Monaco, out of all the places we visited was our favorite by a longshot. I really don't even know where to begin to talk about it because it was a such a beautiful and interesting place. One of the first facts that we learned about Monaco was that it is its own independent principality. It is not part of France, it stands as its own independent state in Europe(not part of France, not part of Italy) and it is still under 2 square km. The history here is very facinasting, and you must read more about it to get a better understanding of this wonderful place. Monaco's royal family, the Grimaldis, to this day remain a very important name in Europe and included in their royal family is Grace Kelly, hollywood film icon, but also Princess of Monaco. She married Prince Rainier after meeting at the Cannes Film Festival in 1955. The people of Monaco adore her and marking the 25th anniversary of her death, they are having a huge celebration of her life. Monaco is also home of the Formula 1 Grand Prix , considered to be one of the top three automobile races in the world. It is held every year in May through the streets of Monaco. They also have a wonderful Oceangraphic Museum and Aquarium which we visited(see pictures above), founded by Prince Albert the I. Matt and I both agreed it was the most beautiful place we had every seen and we look forward to visiting again soon.
