What's going on now?

The moving company

We are (trying) to wind things down here and finish last minute things before the movers arrive in 2 days. Our entire house is full of unclosed boxes which we are still packing and throwing things in. It has been difficult because you can do so much and then wait, and lot of it you cannot do until the very end. So we have packed and then we have to drag thing out again. The worst culprit of this is Nolan. I feel bad packing all his toys and play items. He has been getting into all the boxes after I pack them and dragging things out(I cannot blame him). He is bored with all this packing and getting ready. It is a constant battle to keep things where they belong and I am losing this battle. With 4 different levels in our house this packing and organizing is just killing me because I am constantly finding things on one floor that belong 2 or 3 floors up or down. It makes for long, exhausting days and I am ready for it to be over. We will be happy when the movers arrive and something finally start to "happen". We have been in somewhat of a holding pattern so Monday can't come soon enough.

Meredith, on the other hand is doing her part. Part of moving internationally is having to separate your items into what is going into the air shipment(will arrive in 2-3 weeks), the sea shipment(7-8 weeks), and do not pack. So, keeping this in mind we have to stick special stickers on EVERYTHING in the house. It is the same scenario as when we moved here. Nolan did not seem to be bothered with the stickers when we first moved here. Meredith on the other hand has made it her new pastime to pull all the stickers off the boxes no matter where I put them, she finds them.

We finally got all the documents and insurance forms into the moving company last night so that was a big burden off our backs. Will try to do one more post before we head out. In case I don't here's our plan...

Monday and Tuesday the movers will be here. Monday they will pack and prepare everything. Tuesday they will come with their big trucks and pack everything up and HOPEFULLY we will see it again in Indiana. There is always that chance that we will not see something again, this is why we have to fill out all the insurance forms and turn in a list of everything in the entire house. They showed us pictures when we first moved here of what could happen if things did not go "as planned". The airplane could crash that is carrying our items by the air shipment. Our sea shipment in literally on the barge in the sea for 6-8 weeks so there is alot that could happen in that amount of time. They showed us a picture of an entire barge that had gone up in flames with all the containers on the boat were toast. Another they showed us was that all the containers had fallen over(they stack them very, very high so they can get as many on as possible) and their was some major damage to everything they carried inside. So these things happen, we just pray our things will be okay in the end...

Wednesday we will clean house and turn in our keys, finish a bit of shopping for foods items that we can't live without. We are staying in a hotel on Wednesday night in Torino and we leave on Thursday morning for the United States. We are very excited and happy to be going home again. We closed one our house in West Lafayette last Wednesday, so we have a great house to go back home to so that makes things even more exciting(especially since we haven't even seen it in person yet)!
