Meet our Rooster,  "The King" 

Side view of The King-so far he is a really good boy.  I try several times a week to hold him so he will continue to be a good boy and be gentle towards us and the kids

This is Lady Gaga, enough said...

This is Chip. We named her Chip because when he/she was a baby she looked just like a chipmunk and we thought she was a he(and we named him after my late Uncle Chip). Now we are thinking that he is a she but we haven't changed her name because we already know her as Chip. 

Hello there Chip, you are a pretty girl, and you like to smile for the camera. Thank you for the close up :-) 

This is Miss Perty. This is one of Matt favorites. He named her. She is one of the smallest chickens , she is a good girl too.

This is Foxy Cleopatra(yes, she is named from the Austin Powers movie). It seemed appropriate, and it stuck. Its all about the hair girl.

I guess you can say this is Foxy's sister. Right now we are calling her Zsa Zsa but I am not sure this will be her final name. She is one lucky girl. She has spent the night outside the coop about 3-4 nights for various reasons and she hasn't ever gotten eaten or picked off by any predators. I think we should call her Lucky but Matt doesn't like that name. She is that though, she is very lucky. She wonders off all the time and never stays with the rest of the flock. She gets lost all the time and is no where to be found when it is time to come in for the night.  We thought we  lost her  for good the night the chickens got attacked by a dog. She was gone but the next day she just showed up again. I don't know where she was but it must have been a great hiding spot. 

This is Miss Pecky-When she was a little baby chick whenever we would put our hands down in the brooder she was the first one to run over and say hi to us. With a peck of course. But is was a loving peck, she was just saying hi. :-) She still does this on occasion. 

This is a Dark Brahma chicken. Up until Friday we had 4 of this kind of chicken. We now have 2.  We just gave away 7 chickens because we had too many and not enough room for them all. We haven't come up with a name for our two Brahmas yet but we will so stay posted.

This is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Chicken. We have two of these as well.  Still trying to get to know them and their personalities so we haven't come up with a good name yet but we will.

This is a type of chicken called an easter egger. We have two at this point. We did have three but after the dog attack we lost one. Now we are down to two. They will lay blue/green eggs. They should be really pretty. 

This is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. Also, no names. We are down to two of these, still thinking of names.  They will be pretty girls.

Our rooster hasn't started crowing yet but it should start trying any time now. The chickens should start laying around October I think. It varies but I think October is my best guess at this point. We are having a great time with the chickens so far. Feel free to stop by and say hi to them! They love garden scraps, especially juicy tomatoes and they will eat them right out of your hand. We would love to show you when you visit!
